The (Swedish) Osteological Association

The Osteological Association was founded in 1978 with the aim to promote interest in human (physical anthropology/bioanthropology) and animal (zooarchaeology ) osteology from prehistoric and historic contexts. At present we have about 50 members, mainly in Sweden, but also in Norway, Denmark and Finland.

How to become a member:

To become a member of the Association, you pay the membership fee for 2010 – 100 SEK for students and 150 SEK for non students – to (Pg 45 56 39-5) before 31 April 2010 to be sure to receive the spring issue of Benbiten. Do not forget to send us your name, address and e-mail with the payment.

You’ll also need a IBAN number and a SWIFT code.

The membership includes the Association Journal ”Benbiten”, which is published twice a year. The first issue is published late May / June. Our goal is to organize at least one symposium and/or workshop annually. The date and place will be announced under the link Conferences etc.

Publish an article in Benbiten

At present most articles are published in Swedish with an english abstract though we are looking for good articles, reviews and post in english, danish or norwegian as well. If you are interested in publishing your article, review, posts, or other in the associationjournal Instructions for authors are given below:

Text and photo
Text is preferably written in word (PC), in Times New Roman, font size 12. Submit your text and figures via e-mail, or CD to the editors. Images are sent separately and should not be incorporated in the text document. The resolution of photos should be 300 dpi while  fine line artwork, such as maps should be 600 dpi. Please observe that all articles in the journal  are in black and white.

References
References should be  prepared according to the  Harvard system where the references are written in parentheses after a statement (surname year: page). Full title is written in literature. All references should be  in alphabetical order by the name of the author, for example:

Clutton-Brock, J. 1987. A natural history of domesticated mammals. Cambridge University Press, Cambridge.

Siegel, J. 1976. Animal paleopathology: possibilities and problems. Journal of Archaeological Science 3:349-384.
